Podcast Excerpt: A World Gone Mad (July 2024)
Christian McMillan [14:38]: Can you talk about "Snuff."
Frank: Yeah, that’s actually what I had in mind—the Slipknot cover. A friend in Liverpool messaged me and said, "Can you try this one?" I listened to the Slipknot version and thought, "No, I can’t do this." But I played around with it, sent it back to him, and said, "This is what I came up with." He loved it so much and told me I should post it. I didn’t expect anyone to like it, but it went mad.
Podcast Excerpt: The Fairy Voice Mother (July 2024)
44) Lolli Wren 57:56, Can you tell us about the impact of your cover of "Snuff" on your YouTube channel and how you felt about its success?
Frank: The "Snuff" cover had a significant impact on my channel. I didn't think I performed it well because of microphone issues—an echo that wouldn't turn off and a strange whistle at the start. Despite these flaws, it resonated with many people, and I gained 200,000 subscribers overnight. I was surprised because I thought the recording wasn't right, but it seems the emotion came through anyway. It's funny how sometimes the things you're least confident about end up being the most successful.

Lyrics
Bury all your secrets in my skinCome away with innocence, and leave me with my sinsThe air around me still feels like a cageAnd love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again
So, if you love me, let me goAnd run away before I knowMy heart is just too dark to careI can't destroy what isn't thereDeliver me into my fateIf I'm alone I cannot hateI don't deserve to have youOoh, my smile was taken long agoIf I can change I hope I never know
I still press your letters to my lipsAnd cherish them in parts of me that savor every kissI couldn't face a life without your light (without your light)But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight
So, save your breath, I will not hearI think I made it very clearYou couldn't hate enough to loveIs that supposed to be enough?I only wish you weren't my friendThen I could hurt you in the endI never claimed to be a saintOoh, my own was banished long agoIt took the death of hope to let you go
Oh, oh
So, break yourself against my stonesAnd spit your pity in my soulYou never needed any helpYou sold me out to save yourselfAnd I won't listen to your shameYou ran away, you're all the sameAngels lie to keep controlOoh, my love was punished long agoIf you still care, don't ever let me knowIf you still care, don't ever let me know

- @tinykillx2432 4 months ago What this man does for Snuff, is the equivalent of Johnny Cash and Hurt. Absolutely perfect rendition sir.
- @TheProject1177 3 years ago His grandkids gonna have to come to terms that this is no longer their grandpa this OUR grandpa
- @sc66587 months agoGot recommended this by the algorithm and clicked immediately. 100% worth it.
- @Mrnicguy00 3 years ago Corey really needs to hear this, heart wrenching.
- @SomeBlackGuy 4 years ago This is depressingly awsome
- @asmtute 4 years ago I feel like Corey's version is what you feel when all the wounds are still fresh. You're hurt but more than that you are mad about it. This version is what happens over time, it heals, the hate eventually stops but there will always be some pain. Beautifully played, made me cry.
- @ShabririChirugh 7 months ago What the actual hell?! I JUST got this in my recommendations. I was not prepared for it... This song was played on my older brothers funeral after a long battle with MS, thank you for this rendition sir

- @Nathaniel118 months ago The break in his voice at 2:55 says everything I need to know. This man has stared sadness in its face. I hope he finds peace.
- @BlackwaterDSM3 years ago Incredibly simple and powerful cover. VERY Johnny Cash “Hurt” feeling.
- @coldguto 4 years ago The "hurt effect" all over again, when an older artist takes a newer song and makes a beautiful heartbraking cover...
- @joshredecop3671 3 years ago there are no dislikes, they are just likes from Australia
- @TommyReaperProductions 7 months ago This song was written from a very broken hearted perspective… but coming from this old man… makes it sound like the depths of hell can sing the sorrow…
- @SgtM0le2 years ago It feels like a Johnny Cash cover of snuff. Amazingly voiced and has all the feeling of the original
- @kurasfx17203 years ago This is why internet is the invention of the future. An old man with an amazing skill can show of, for the people to appreciate him. Well done sir.
- @bostonacexx26283 years ago As a 53 yo man who was introduced to Slipknot by hearing a gf's teen son playing their music almost 10 years ago, this is incredible that a man of your age also knows a great song when they hear it.
- @bulletsonabudget5 days ago (edited) I lost my wife March 2024. While the original Snuff holds this raw anger, Frank’s rendition gives me the perspective of a man who’s been hurt, had the rug pulled out from under him and he’s left wondering “why?” I listen to this and “Coffee to Go” on repeat. Bloody beautiful mate. Thank you for these songs.
- @PuddlesPityParty 4 years ago Just incredible!
- @whenyoureunwanted9508 4 years ago My biggest hope is that Corey Taylor gets to see this video. I think he would be proud of your rendition Frank.

- @SarcasticDuck 4 months ago I clicked thinking "oh look, gramps is singing Slipknot" but damn sir, I could feel the emotion in your voice from the first moment. I know the emotional baggage this song carries and I wish you the best. Now if you'll excuse me, Youtube is telling me you have more covers for me to listen to
- @Forboz 4 years ago This song can't be stronger than when it's sung by someone who experienced a long life

- @JoeRyMi 3 months ago Fantastic!!!
- @austinh6540 4 years ago I want to hug this man and never let go music is the universal force
- @RehanBalaporia7 3 years ago There's a strange melancholic quality to the way you've done this. Less anger, and so much more sadness. I've heard this song a hundred times, but I've only ever teared up twice - once when I heard the original live, and today when I heard your version. Thank you. For bringing this to all of us.
