Because i loved, I can dream. Frank & Lolli .

Because I Loved, I Can Dream": A Song of Hope and Uncertainty

Exploring Frank Watkinson’s Poignant Reflection on Dreams, Love, and the Future

In an age where the future often seems uncertain, the power of dreaming provides solace and motivation to many. Frank Watkinson’s song, "Because I Loved, I Can Dream," embodies this sentiment beautifully. Written and performed by Watkinson with Lolli Wren, this ballad captures the universal tension between the longing for a better future and the stark reality of the present. With themes of love, hope, and the uncharted territory of tomorrow, the song speaks to anyone who has ever wondered what might be possible, if only dreams could come true.

A Dream of Love and Possibilities

At its core, "Because I Loved, I Can Dream" is about the power of love to inspire dreams of a better life. The lyrics speak of the narrator’s desire to give their loved one everything they could ever hope for, from a house by a lake to a life free from want. This idealized vision of a future together is beautiful in its simplicity, but it’s also underscored by an understanding that such dreams, while enticing, may never fully materialize.

Lines like “Maybe one day, if everything goes my way, I will give you everything that you ever dreamed for,” reveal the narrator’s deep yearning to provide the kind of life they wish for the person they love. The imagery of a “big house beside the lake” paints a picture of tranquility and abundance, the sort of life many fantasize about when in love. Yet, despite this hope, there’s an underlying uncertainty. The narrator is aware that love alone may not make this dream a reality.

Buster - My original song

The Story of Buster

Frank: Buster—he was in the garden, and it was a summer evening. There’s a big field in front of our house, like a wild field. It’s all turned into a park now. My nieces and nephews were around because they were having drinks in the garden, and they let him out.

So, I went out to look for him, and he’s across this field, and he’s over at the main road. I walked up slowly, thinking I won’t shout at him because he’s over the road. And as I got near to the end, he turned and saw me. He just came belting back toward me.

There was one car on that road. And that was it.

It was only a couple of days later, I was just sitting in the garden with the guitar, and that’s how the song was written.

This is a song for my pup Buster who was tragically killed in a road accident , someone once told me dogs don't go to heaven !
I had written quite a few songs before this ,songs like Highway to Bolton , We are the Grampians , and Knocking on Heathers door ,but i was getting nowhere ,then my pup was unfortunately run over and didn't survive which inspired me to write this in his memory ,i used to cry when i sang it but it's a bit easier now ,not a lot but a bit ,his name was Buster and that is the title of the song. I'm pretty sure this song was the birth of my style.

Buster was a turning point. I realized I didn't need a different chord for every line. I could use the same couple of chords and focus on the melody differently. It made songwriting much easier for me.

Buster
Time, heals the pain they say And makes it easier day by day Then they try to tell you Everything's gonna be alright It doesn't really help you face Another lonely night [Chorus] And if there is a heaven Is that where you'll be? I'd like to think that you're in heaven Just waiting there for me If there is a heaven I hope that's where you'll be Cause if you're not in heaven then Heaven's not for me [Verse 2] They say, the memories will remain I bet those memories can bring such pain Never thought that love could cut Somebody so deep Nevermore to hold you in My arms where you'll sleep And if there is a heaven Is that where you'll be? I'd like to think that you're in heaven Just waiting there for me [Chorus] And if there is a heaven Is that where you'll be? I'd like to think that you're in heaven Just waiting there for me If there is a heaven I hope that's where you'll be Cause if you're not in heaven then Heaven's not for me [Verse 3] And time, heals the pain they say Makes it easier day by day Still I've got to carry on I know you'd want me to Let me tell now old friend I'll never forget you [Chorus] And if there is a heaven Is that where you'll be? I'd like to think that you're in heaven Just waiting there for me If there is a heaven I hope that's where you'll be Cause if you're not in heaven then Heaven's not for me
